1 killed in Tripoli as civil society groups strike

Adel Athman was killed on Sunday in Tripoli’s “American” neighborhood due to sniper fire coming from Hariri’s complex. The LAF is currently chasing after the shooters.

The Arab Democratic Party said it will not respond “military” to Athman's killing, leaving the issue in the hands of the LAF.

LAF raided hideouts of al-Moory gunmen in al-Zahiriyah where it managed to arrest some of them.

Earlier on Sunday, one citizen was injured in the shooting at a time when civil society committees held a strike at the municipality’s building denouncing the incidents taking place in the city.

In this context, the head of Tripoli’s Municipality Nader al-Ghazal said that chaos in Tripoli led to the strike. Al-Ghazal said that the protest is peaceful, noting that their voice will reach all sides involved.

In information made available to LBCI, groups from Bab al-Tebbaneh demand the release of 5 gunmen arrested by the army on Saturday.

This as the Lebanese army raided Al-Omri, Tripoli, after gun shots were reported in the area.

On the other hand, security sources told LBCI that there is no security plan in Tripoli, noting that the army is performing all its duties.
