President Aoun meets Arab League official

President Michel Aoun met on Thursday with Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Ambassador Hossam Zaki at the Baabda Presidential Palace.

Talks reportedly featured high over the general situation in the country whereby Zaki conveyed to Aoun the Arab League’s support and readiness to help in solving Lebanon’s crisis.

Following the meeting, Zaki said that the situation in Lebanon is “not easy with the economic risks, a political crisis and an unstable situation in the streets.”

Zaki later met with Kataeb party leader MP Sami Gemayel at the party’s headquarter in Saifi.

Following the meeting, Gemayel stressed on the importance of a swift Cabinet formation.

“There is no justification in the delay in the call for the biding consultations,” he said.

“The Lebanese people were clear since the beginning of the revolution with their demand of a technocrat Cabinet to be formed,” Gemayel added.

The Arab League official then held a meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain el-Tineh.

He also met with resigned Prime Minister Saad Hariri whereby he said that "everyone know, including the Lebanese leaders, that the demands of the protesters are rightful."

Zaki said that the Arab League extends its hand to Lebanon "in order to stand beside the country and help it."
