US concerned over Iraq political crisis

The United States voiced concern over Iraq’s political crisis and the death sentence imposed on fugitive Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi, saying it was closely monitoring his case.

Hashemi, who is currently sheltering in Turkey, was sentenced on Sunday to hang for the murders of a lawyer and a brigadier general, after being accused of running a death squad.
