REPORT: Opponents of Orthodox draft law say project should not pass

MP Boutros Harb said that the elections will not be held and the confrontations will take place inside the parliament, in case the Orthodox proposal was not approved as it was presented, stressing the fact that "such law is unconstitutional, violates the national pact and will fail to pass in the constitutional council."

In this context, Harb expressed, in a statement to LBCI, his hope that this law will not be approved, noting that it does not reflect the aim of the "prestigious Christian parties" which were linked to the battle for the unity of Lebanon.

For his part, Future bloc MP Ahmad Fatfat noted that there are many question marks over the voting that took place during the session of the parliamentary joint committee due to the lack of quorum. He added that the calls held between former PM Saad Hariri, Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel and Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea aimed at finalizing some issues and clarifying several matters.
