REPORT: PM-Designate Salam says still awaiting the Constitutional Council's decision

Prime Minister - Designate Tammam Salam said on Monday that he is still awaiting the decision of the Constitutional Council in regards to the extension of the parliament's mandate.

He also noted that he is deploying all possible efforts "to reach a common ground on the pending issues in the country."

On another note, PM-Designate met with the British Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher, and tackled with him the latest developments in the region and the security situation in the country.

Following the meeting, ambassador Fletcher highlighted the need to form a new government in Lebanon.

"The Lebanese are looking forward to seeing a new government formed, and the international community supports the efforts deployed by the Prime Minister-Designate in this regard," he said.

PM-Designate Salam also held talks with the European Union Ambassador to Lebanon Angelina Eichhorst who expressed regret over the latest events taking place in Lebanon and which are "putting the country's stability and security at stake."

In this context, she reiterated the European Union's support to Lebanon and PM-Designate Salam.
