Abiad: Coronavirus positive tests are high due to new highly contagious Coronavirus variant
Caretaker Health Minister Firas Abiad announced on Monday that the rate of positive Coronavirus tests has risen to 11 percent, up from 5 percent previously.
 
During a press conference, the Minister of Health also stated that these positive tests are due to the new highly contagious Coronavirus variant that is spreading throughout the world, as well as the weak community immunity in Lebanon, pointing out that the percentage of vaccinated people in Lebanon did not exceed 45 percent.
 
Abiad confirmed that the situation in hospitals is still under control, revealing that the country will not be closed down, but rather tightened measures will be announced following the Corona Committee meeting this week, in addition to promoting vaccination.
