Future bloc: Power ship Fatmagul Sultan scandal is proof to power sector incapacity

The Future Bloc considered that the information at hand demonstrates the weakness of the March 8 coalition which, following former PM Najib Mikati's resignation, rushed to nominate PM-Designate Tammam Salam, only as a political and media maneuver in an attempt to decrease the impact of the losses they incurred.

Following its weekly meeting, the bloc stressed that the main aim of the formation of a new cabinet must lie in the work it carries out to hold the upcoming parliamentary elections, noting that it must include ministers who are not running for this political entitlement, and that the principle of ministerial rotation must be adhered to.

"The cabinet must also steer the country toward a new direction that reflects the results of the ballot boxes."

The bloc pointed out that Hezbollah's ongoing participation in the Syrian war rocks all balances as well as national, humanitarian, and moral pacts.

The bloc announced that the required steps from Hezbollah at this point are withdrawing its troops from Syria, as a prelude to paving the way for a near normal national and political life.

On a further note, the bloc considered the failure to temporarily connect the electric current from the powership Fatmagul Sultan to the Lebanese electrical network as proof of failure, incapacity and inaptness of the concerned officials of this dossier.

"This sector, which has been run for years by the representatives of the Free Patriotic Movement in the Lebanese government, is deteriorating and thus incurring great losses for the Lebanese, as a result of bad management controlled by a 'malicious mentality' and the 'brokerage and interest policy'."
