Netanyahu: Eliminating Hamas is necessary for the rise of an alternative Palestinian government

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that eliminating Hamas in the Gaza Strip is necessary for the rise of any alternative Palestinian government there, considering that leaving Hamas in place would pose a threat to whoever succeeds it.

Netanyahu also responded to Western criticism of the Israeli military operation in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, saying, 'The humanitarian catastrophe that has been talked about did not happen, and will not happen.'"
