US proposes 28-day truce in Gaza and deal for hostage release

The Axios website, citing three Israeli officials, reported that CIA Director William Burns proposed a 28-day ceasefire agreement in Gaza, involving the release of around eight hostages held by Hamas and the release of dozens of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

The report added that Burns discussed the idea during a meeting held on Sunday with his Israeli and Qatari counterparts.
