MP Bazzi from Rabieh: Aoun and Berri do not need mediators

Development and Liberation Bloc MP Ali Bazzi stressed on Wednesday that he met with the head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun within a series of visits aimed at inviting politicians to participate in the “Loyalty Festival” held in honor of Imam Moussa al-Sadr, noting that he discussed with Aoun the general situation on the local and regional levels.

Bazzi said from Rabieh that the relations between Aoun and Speaker Nabih Berri are based on mutual respect, pointing out that the two parties have found common grounds regarding several issues and do not need mediators to communicate.

Answering a question concerning Berri’s insistence on adopting an agenda rejected by Aoun in the parliamentary session, Bazzi said: “Berri is not being intransigent, but he is practicing his constitutional prerogative.”

The Shiite Imam Moussa Al-Sadr went missing during his visit to Libya in 1978 and was reportedly killed by the regime of Moammar Gaddafi according to media reports. He is a figure revered by the Amal movement which he founded in 1974, now led by Speaker Nabih Berri.
