HRC to pay due compensations for the affected in the Roueis explosion

The High Relief Commission announced on Wednesday that “upon the directives of caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, due compensations in terms of shelter services will be paid for the affected persons in the Roueis explosion as of Thursday the 29th of August from 9 am until 4 pm at the Starco building in Beirut”.

In mid-August, a powerful car bomb tore through the Beirut Southern Suburbs' region of Roueis, a stronghold of Hezbollah, claiming the lives of 27 civilians and leaving more than 289 wounded.

The blast, a month after another car bomb wounded more than 50 people in the same district of the Lebanese capital, came amid sectarian tensions over the intervention of Shi'ite Muslim Hezbollah against Sunni rebels in Syria's civil war.
