Cardinal Rai voices support to a diplomatic solution for Syria

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai expressed Friday his concern over wars and violence in the Middle East on the backdrop of religious affiliations, considering these incidents as “a fight between moderates and fundamentalists.”

During his visit to Romania, Cardinal Rai voiced his support to “a peaceful and diplomatic solution for the Syrian crisis.”

On another note, Cardinal Rai met with Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church at the Patriarchate's headquarters in Bucharest.

He also held talks with the Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean and discussed with him the latest regional and international developments.
