Rai from Bucharest: Arab World’s stability must be restored through peaceful means

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai hoped on Sunday that political and security stability will be restored in the Arab countries through peaceful means, and without having recourse to violence, war and terrorism.

During a visit to Bucharest where he participates in the inauguration of Saint Charbel Church, which is the first Maronite Church in Eastern Europe, Rai noted that Lebanon has an important role in spreading peace and stability across the region, due to its system based on separating religion from politics, while respecting all confessions. He also called on the Lebanese leaders and politicians to hasten the cabinet formation in order for the authorities to be able to face all kinds of challenges.

Cardinal Rai urged all the parties to keep Lebanon away from the ongoing sectarian political conflict and to prevent a specific sect from acquiring political dominance over the country.
