MP Aoun: Lebanese leaders are neglecting oil reserve file

Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun said on Tuesday that there is a “conspiracy to prevent Lebanon from exploiting its oil reserve.”

“It is a shame that some Lebanese leaders are deliberately neglecting such a file,” Aoun said.

On Hezbollah's attempts to install telecommunications network in the Bekaa city of Zahle, MP Aoun said that his bloc is not responsible for the problems that resulted following the May 7th incidents.

He noted that whoever allowed Hezbollah to lay the telecommunications network back in 1990’s “must resolve this issue.”

On the 7th of May, 2008, armed clashes erupted between Hezbollah and Future movement after the Lebanese government decided to shut down Hezbollah's telecommunication network and remove Beirut Airport's security chief over alleged ties to Hezbollah.

Media outlets reported on Monday that tensions had erupted Sunday in the Bekaa city of Zahle after members of Hezbollah attempted to lay telecommunications network for the party in the area.

Contacts held with concerned authorities failed to hinder such attempts which pushed Zahle MPs to act accordingly.
