Soueid: Hezbollah passed funding at Syria’s behest

March 14 General Secretariat Coordinator Fares Soueid told Nharkom Said TV show that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech Thursday night to justify the step of funding the STL, after having portrayed it as an American and Israeli project.

“The justifications put forth by Sayyed Nasrallah were not very convincing”, Soueid said, adding that the “orders came right from Syria and were meant to preserve the current cabinet”.

Soueid stressed that Syria is benefiting from Mikati’s cabinet, since it is supporting Syria and rejecting the Arab League’s sanctions.

Soueid said that it would have been better if Hezbollah had made such a compromise for the Lebanese rather than to cave in to the will of Syria.
