Syrian national shoots Lebanese citizen in Adonis

55-year-old Lebanese citizen Joseph Chafik Gemayel who hails from Ain el Kharoubi was severely injured on Wednesday after a Syrian national shot him in Adonis, the state-run National News Agency reported.

In the details, a Syrian national identified as Nabih Hannoun, who also holds the Lebanese citizenship, fought with Gemayel who works in a bakery in Adonis.

After the scuffle, Hannoun left the scene only to return with a hunting rifle, which he used to open fire at Gemayel.

The victim was transferred to St. Georges hospital in Ajaltoun where he underwent surgery. Security forces are pursuing the assailant who escaped the scene of the crime to an unknown destination and seems to hold a criminal record.
