Gemayel: Moussawi’s apology is first step to humbling Hezbollah

MP Sami Gemayel commended Speaker Nabih Berri for his efforts following the profane language used by MP Nawwaf Moussawi during Wednesday’s parliamentary session.

Gemayel voiced hope that things will get back to normal and that discussions within the Parliament will be limited to key subjects, steering clear of abusive language. During a press conference, Gemayel regarded Moussawi’s apology as the first step to humbling Hezbollah to the same level as the rest of the Lebanese, hoping that this step will be the first in long line of moves that will lead to Hezbollah’s recognition in the public opinion.  

“Hezbollah should accept the other’s point of view and take into consideration that the one telling the truth is the one with Lebanon’s best interest at heart”, Gemayel said.  

Gemayel voiced concern over the presence of security groups that are constantly on the move, spying on the Lebanese people without being granted the permission of any legal party. Gemayel added that these groups are violating the Lebanese laws and constitution.
