Former PM Hariri says Sleiman announced exceptional step to build real state

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri said President Michel Sleiman has announced an exceptional step aiming to build a real state "where no army should take precedence over the Lebanese Armed Forces".

Hariri's comments were made on Sunday after President Sleiman delivered a televised speech whereby he said Saudi Arabia is giving the Lebanese army $3 billion in aid.

"Saudi Arabia and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz have been always concerned with Lebanon's stability and will remain as such," former PM Hariri said in a statement.
