Suspect in Majed al-Majed’s case hands himself to Information Bureau

Citizen Khaled al-Hajj, who is accused of transporting Abdullah Azzam Brigades' leader Majed al-Majed from Hamed hospital in Western Bekaa to al-Makased hospital in Beirut, handed himself over to the Internal Security Forces Information Bureau on Saturday.

The body of Majed al-Majed arrived Friday to Beirut International Airport amid tight security measures, and was transported to Riyadh on board a Saudi Arabian Airlines’ plane.

This comes after the Lebanese Armed Forces Command declared that the body of Majed al-Majed was handed over to the Saudi Embassy in Beirut after completing the necessary medical and legal procedures.

On Thursday, Judge Hammoud said the forensic report on Majed al-Majed's body confirms that the cause of death is due to diseases and complications.

One week ago, a Lebanese army general said the leader of an al-Qaeda-linked group that has conducted attacks across the Middle East before shifting its focus to Syria's civil war died in custody in Lebanon.

The general said Majed al-Majed died after suffering kidney failure.
