Three Syrian members of al-Nusra Front arrested in Bekaa

The state-run National News Agency reported on Thursday that three Syrian nationals, who are reportedly members of al-Nusra Front were arrested in the north of the Bekaa.

The agency added that the three men entered Lebanon illegally to the Bekaa border town of Arsal through the Qalamoun region.

The cell phones of the three men contained pictures showing them holding flags of al-Nusra Front.

The three suspects were identified as Moustapha Mohammed Sfarji, 34, Ziad Kheirallah Melhem, 26, and Bassam Ahmed Hamsho, 22.

Sfarji also carried two cell phones, four international SIM cards and five memory cards.

The Military prosecutor ordered their referral to the military police in the region of Ablah.

Al-Nusra Front in Lebanon is the offshoot of Syria's al-Nusra Front, a jihadist rebel movement -- which previously claimed responsibility for a car bombing in Hermel in eastern Lebanon that left two people killed and the latest bombing that targeted the Haret Hreik region in south Beirut, that left four civilians killed in its wake.

They warned that attacks on Hezbollah strongholds will continue until Lebanon releases Sunni Islamist prisoners and it withdraws its fighters from Syria.
