Daftardar’s health condition prevents his interrogation

Detainee Jamal Daftardar was not taken Monday to the military investigative judge’s office for interrogations due to his health conditions, leading Judge Imad al-Zain to postpone the session until Wednesday.

Daftardar is charged, along with 12 other persons, with belonging to the al-Qaeda affiliated, Abdullah Azzam Brigades and the Ziad al-Jarrah Brigades, to carry out terrorist attacks in the country.

LAF Intelligence arrested Jamal Daftardar, a leader of an al Qaeda-linked militant group, in a raid on his hideout in the Bekaa town of Kamed el-Laouz on Wednesday January 15.

Jamal Daftardar was one of the leading figures in the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, a group operating in Lebanon which claimed responsibility for a bombing on the Iranian embassy in November that killed at least 23.

A double suicide attack targeted on Tuesday, November 19 the Iranian embassy in south Beirut’s Bir Hassan region, killing at least 23 people, wounding 146 and damaging buildings in the embassy compound.
