Ministerial statement drafting committee holds fifth session

The ministerial statement drafting committee held its fifth session on Tuesday evening.

Sources told LBCI that the formula submitted by Health Minister Wael Abou Faour mentions the non-controversial items of the Baabda Declaration, noting that Lebanon's dissociation policy is mentioned in a separate paragraph.

"Abou Faour's formula is inadequate," Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil said.

Well-informed sources also stressed that the March 14 coalition is adamant on the Baabda Declaration whereas the March 8 coalition is keen on the People-Army-Resistance formula.

The aforementioned committee wrapped up its fourth meeting on Monday without any agreement on a final formula for the ministerial statement.
