The US ambassador to Lebanon David Hale stressed Wednesday that the United States welcomed the success of the security plan implemented in the northern city of Tripoli and in the Bekaa, noting that his government stands by the Lebanese cabinet, the security forces and the people.
Following his meeting with the Mufti of Tripoli and the North Sheikh Malek al-Chaar, Hale stressed that his country will keep on supporting all those who seek to maintain peace, stability and prosperity, stating that “when there is a political decision, the security forces prove that they are capable of imposing stability.”
For his part, al-Chaar said that the residents of Tripoli will prevent sectarian strife, adding that the security apparatuses managed to arrest those who attacked the army.
On another note, Hale also met with the head of the Marada Movement MP Sleiman Frangieh at his residence in Bnashii, where they tackled the latest developments and the current regional and local situation.
