Lebanese security apparatuses focus probe on ISIL’s Lebanon leader

The security apparatuses expressed Monday relief regarding the abstention of the Lebanese Islamist parties and Palestinian groups in the refugee camps from staging any movements to support the Islamic State's declaration of a caliphate.

However, the apparatuses said that the situation remains volatile, noting that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) seeks to raise its flag inside the Lebanese territories.

“Cooperation is underway with western intelligence services in order to uncover further leads in terrorist attacks,” the Lebanese security apparatuses pointed out in a statement.

In this regard, the statement added that ISIL’s Emir in Lebanon Abdel Salam al-Ordoni is not known, but reports show that he travels between Syria and Yemen.

On Sunday, reports said that ISIL “has appointed Abdel Salam al-Ordoni as an emir over Lebanon,” citing information from investigations by security agencies.
