One of the most wanted robbery suspects arrested in Bekaa

The Internal Security Forces issued on Thursday a communiqué in which it said that the police arrested one of the most wanted robbery suspects in the eastern Bekaa Valley after he attempted to escape from a patrol in the town of Brital.

The communiqué identified the wanted suspect by his initials D.A., (29), adding that he was arrested on Wednesday.

The suspect was driving a stolen Mercedes and had in his possession a hand grenade and half a gram of cocaine at the time of his arrest.

The man confessed to carrying out 18 robberies and car thefts along with several of his accomplices, the communiqué added

Twelve search and investigation warrants have been issued against him for robbery, theft, the formation of a gang, using a weapon and the possession of drugs.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining gang members.
