Probe suggests Nicole Assaf committed suicide

The investigations underway in the case of Nicole Assaf’s death, a Civil Engineering student at the American University of Beirut, suggest that she may have committed suicide.

Sources told LBCI the investigations were based on emerging leads suggesting domestic issues faced by the 21-year-old student, as well as her fear from failure in terms of her academic performance.

According to the same sources, the victim’s shoe was found on the fifth floor of the building, next to which her body was found.

In addition, the sources revealed that Nicole kept a distance from her friends over the few weeks leading to her death.

On Tuesday evening, the body of Nicole Assaf, 21, was discovered behind Midtown Hotel and Suites in Beirut's Hamra district in a small pool of blood. Investigations were directly launched to reveal the mysterious circumstances of the girl’s death.
