A state of tension prevailed Wednesday over the northeastern town of Arsal between the residents and Syrian gunmen on the backdrop of kidnapping operations.
In the details, resident Hussein Seifeddine was abducted two days earlier, then members of Ezzeddine family kidnapped in turn two individuals identified as Amer and Ahmad Karnabi, but were released on Tuesday as a good will gesture and following the intervention of Lebanese army’s Intelligence.
However, due to the failure of releasing Seifeddine, members of Nouh and Ezzeddine families opened fire in the town and set up armed checkpoints in Arsal on Wednesday, where they detained 35 Syrian refugees from a nearby town.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Armed Forces deployed across the town of Arsal and cordoned off the area.
