Future Bloc: Some parties seek to exploit ongoing protests to topple government
Future Bloc said on Tuesday that it supported Prime Minister Tammam Salam amid calls launched by protesters for him to resign, adding that the bloc backs the Cabinet.

“Some parties are seeking to exploit the ongoing protests to topple the government,” the bloc said in a statement read by MP Ammar Houri after its weekly meeting.

Security forces used water cannons, tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse demonstrators at the Riyad al-Soleh on Saturday gathered to demand the government's resignation over the waste management crisis.

MP Houri also stressed that the ongoing crisis “deteriorated in an unacceptable way due to its bad management.”

The bloc added that “the solution for the current pending issues lies within the election of a new president.”
