FPM stages massive rally in Beirut's Martyrs square

Thousands of Free Patriotic Movement supporters filled Beirut's Martyrs Square Friday determined to voice support to their party and to the calls of FPM leader MP Michel Aoun.

During the demonstration, Foreign Affairs Minister Gebran Bassil noted that the Free Patriotic Movement is seeking the ratification of an electoral law on the basis of proportionality in a bid to serve all Lebanese citizens.

Minister Bassil added that “the FPM’s dream is to have a cabinet that does not infringe the powers of the president,” stressing the necessity of electing a president directly by the people.

For his part, head of the FPM, MP Michel Aoun, hailed in a brief televised speech the "loyalty and solidarity of the partisans," stressing that “this glorious day will be the beginning of reform in Lebanon.”
