Nasrallah: We'll go back to dialogue, Akkar’s incident is regrettable but it was an accident
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said that what happened in Akkar is unfortunate and condemnable, “but it was an accident and it must be considered as such”. Nasrallah stressed that the Lebanese Army must be maintained and protected.

In a speech he made during a festival held on the occasion of the Liberation Day in Bint Jbeil on Friday, Nasrallah said that the most important institution in charge of protecting civil peace is the LAF. Nasrallah warned that everyone will lose if the country is dragged back to a civil war.

Nasrallah said that the Resistance’s arms are not aimed at protecting one category or confession, urging the Lebanese state to protect everyone.

“What is the cause or the accomplishments of all weapons that are not aimed at deterring Israel?” he wondered. “Let us organize all arms in the framework of the army-people-resistance equation to protect our country”.

Nasrallah called on all political leaders and media outlets to act responsibly and to stop launching incitement campaigns.

On the issue of Islamic detainees, Nasrallah considered that is unfair to hold the Shiite community responsible for their stay in prison, calling for swift trials in order to prosecute those found guilty and release those found innocent.

On the other hand, Nasrallah announced that Hezbollah accepts to go back to the dialogue table without preconditions. He urged all leaders to respond to President Suleiman’s call for dialogue.
Nasrallah condemned the act of abductors of the Lebanese pilgrims in Syria, adding that kidnapping people adversely affects them and their cause.

Addressing the abductors, he said “if the aim was to influence our political stance, we assure you that our stance on Syria’s incidents is based on principles”.

“We endorse dialogue, reform, national unity and the end of armed manifestations in Syria”, he added.

Nasrallah extended his thanks to the Syrian leadership, President Bashar Assad, President Michel Suleiman, House Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and former PM Saad Hariri who exerted assiduous efforts, as well as all officials who made contacts to release the Lebanese men. Nasrallah also thanked Turkey for its cooperation and the people who contained their reactions and emotions.

“It makes no sense to cut off roads and take to the streets; what do workers, Syrian nationals or even Syrian displaced have to do with what happened?”, he wondered.

On this special occasion, Nasrallah said: “We are celebrating a real national day; I call for making this day a national day for all the Lebanese people; all parties and factions that contributed to this resistance should celebrate it and we will not accept it to be turned into a day for a certain religion or group."

Addressing residents of south Lebanon and those who were in contact with Israelis, Nasrallah said “the Israelis you served want to see you get killed and slaughtered; they want you to be the fuel of a sectarian strife”.

Nasrallah stressed that ever since August 14, 2006, Israelis have not dared to attack Lebanon, adding that May 25, 2000 marked the death of Israelis thanks to the Resistance’s sacrifices.

“At the border, they are not throwing stones or bullets at Israel; they are threatening it with rockets that could reach all occupied territories”.
