Conflicting reports emerge on hostages whereabouts

Conflicting reports emerged Monday on the whereabouts of the hostages. LBCI’s correspondent quoted a colonel of the Free Syrian Army as confirming that the hostages are still in Reef Aleppo.

The colonel also confirmed that the Turkish side holds no new information on the Lebanese abductees, explaining that shelling along the border obstructed the handover of the hostages to Turkey.

However, other sources confirmed that the hostages are currently on Turkish territory, adding that authorities in Istanbul are negotiating with the kidnappers over their release, with the support of two FSA officers.

The relatives of the 11 Lebanese hostages continued visiting the office of Badr al-Kubra campaign on Monday, hoping to hear any news on their kidnapped loved ones.

While behind-the-scenes contacts are ongoing on the political and party levels, the relatives, those in charge of the campaign and officials abstained from making statements to avoid influencing ongoing negotiations.
