Hayek: EDL situation “dangerous”, we might have to evacuate building
The general director of Electricité du Liban (EDL), Kamal Hayek, warned on Tuesday that the situation of the company should change since it has become dangerous.

“The employees might be compelled to evacuate the company’s building”, he announced following a meeting with the ministers of energy, interior and justice.

Hayek added that the protest of EDL contract workers has become “anomalous”, noting that “this does not serve their case or the dignity of the company’s employees”.

“I told the ministers that the company is not responsible for any damages arising from loss of bills or funds”, he stressed.

According to Hayek, Interior Minister Marwan Charbel promised that necessary measures will be taken within 48 hours. “We hope that things will be resolved within 48 hours or else we will gather again to announce the next step”, Hayek warned.
