LAF calls for backup to comb rural Yamuna area
Two ISF members were wounded Friday morning as unknown assailants fired gunshots at the ISF Baalbek division Building.

The wounded personnel were immediately taken to the Dar al-Amal Hospital as the drive-by shooters on board a red Cherokee escaped to an unknown destination.

The ISF narcotics burn squad also fell under heavy fire as they were destroying cannabis fields in the area.

Explosives were planted some 50 meters away from the  ISF patrol, and seven shells were fired at the ISF narcotics squad in Yamuna. Clashes continued between security apparatuses and cannabis farmers in the area, with one LAF reported wounded. Clashes were not only reserved to Yamuna but as the squad  destroyed fields in  Dahr el Wessaa, farmers came out to "defend their crops".

Subsequently the LAF cut-off the Yamuna Rd, preventing incomers, and called for backup to comb the rural area, including military choppers.

The ISF declared that it will continue efforts to eradicate all cannabis fields, however LBCI sources stated that the destruction of fields may not finish in one day.

The Army command declared in a statement that its units began carrying out raid operations targeting the places of the shooters and chasing armed men who escaped towards surrounding mountains. Meanwhile, the squad continued destroying illegal crops according to the plan.

This as unknown assailants fired gunshots towards civil defense when they were putting out a fire in Dar al-Wasaa.

On the 25th of July the Internal Security Forces eradicated 600 dunoms of cannabis fields in the Bekaa and 105 dunums in the Soueidiye region, north Lebanon.
