Sleiman heads meeting on Lebanese participation in UNSC

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman chaired a work meeting to address Lebanon’s participation in the UN General Assembly, Lebanon’s presidency of the Security Council and the country’s position pertaining to the issues that will be raised, focusing in particular on Palestinian statehood. 

Sleiman met with Deputy Prime Minister Samir Moqbel and Industry Minister Vrej Sabonjian to discuss the issues raised by the cabinet.

The president and MP Serge Torsarkissian touched on the discussions regarding the electricity bill of the joint parliamentary committees.

The Director of General Security Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim informed Sleiman of his tour to Al Obeidi and Al Aridi passageways. Sleiman gave Ibrahim his directives and emphasized the need to secure our borders. Sleiman also ordered steps be taken towards a speedy settlement for the displaced former SLA members and their families.
