Future bloc: Big money needs tight regulations
The Future bloc stressed that any plan involving spending, investing or borrowing large sums to fund the electricity plan cannot be passed without adopting clear and acceptable regulations.

“All political parties, especially those taking part in the cabinet, cannot stay silent and pass a plan involving such a large sum without the supervision of a regulatory body”, a statement issued following the bloc’s weekly meeting said.

The bloc urged, once again, the concerned parties to introduce all necessary reforms to the electricity draft law submitted by the cabinet to the Parliament.

March 14 parties voiced their opposition to the draft during parliamentary discussions in order to promote the principles of supervision, accountability and transparency.

The new opposition said that it would not compromise over these three principles, no matter the circumstances.

On the other hand, the statement added that, with the PM and the President both headed to New York to participate in the UN General Assembly, it is important for Lebanon to live up to its international commitments since this will immediately be reflected on Lebanon’s role and credibility.
