Sleiman: The Syrians have been informed of my stance on Samaha’s case

President Michel Sleiman said Saturday that all attempts to sow discord in Lebanon will fail, stressing that the parliamentary elections will take place on their due date.

During an inauguration ceremony of the fishermen’s port in Aamchit, Sleiman said that upon the uncovering of several explosives involved in the Samaha case. "I informed the Syrians of my position when I met with them on the side lines of the NAM summit", he said.

“I do not regret congratulating the ISF for uncovering a plot involving explosives which would have left hundreds dead in Lebanon”, he added.

Sleiman hoped that no Syrian official party will turn out to have links to these explosives, adding that the judiciary has been placed in a position of utmost responsibility.regarding the case.

Sleiman also called on the judiciary to fulfill its duties and to be just in Samaha’s case.
