Maronite bishops: Maronites need to stay true to their traditional ways
Maronite bishops said that the only way the Christian community will survive in the region is through openness to other religions.

In an appeal following their monthly meeting in Bkerke, the Maronites bishops called the Maronites to stay true to their traditional ways to weather these difficult times that are threatening the Christian’s presence in the Middle East.

“The Maronite bishops, call on all Christians to engage in an honest and transparent dialogue which will renew trust within [the Christian community]”, the appeal added.

The appeal stressed that, the day he was elected, Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai chose the slogan of “partnership and love” and intends to put it into practice using all available means.

“During his visits to different Lebanese parishes, Rai called on Christians to deepen their partnership with the trinity”, the appeal said, adding that the visits were well received.

The appeal clarified that Rai’s visit to France “was an occasion for him to bravely testify in favor of the truth and to hold the international community responsible for implementing UN Security Council resolutions in a just manner, ending wars and spreading the seeds of peace in the region.”
