Jumblatt, Amr meet...discuss current situation

"National Struggle" Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr, at the Mukhtara Palace on Wednesday in the presence of Egyptian Ambassador Ashraf Hamdi.

Talks revolved on the current political situation in Lebanon and the region.

Speaking to reporters after the visit, Amr reiterated Egypt's readiness to assist Lebanon in any way.

Earlier the Egyptian Embassy in Lebanon released a statement in which it clarified that the meetings conducted by Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammad Kamel Amr with senior Lebanese officials and leaders has “no political objective whatsoever.” The statement added that the meetings were of a logistical and diplomatic nature.

Amr arrived to Beirut on Tuesday where he met with Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea, Kataeb leader Amine Gemayel, head of the Change and Reform Bloc MP Michel Aoun, House Speaker Nabih Berri, and Former PM Fouad Siniora.

His meetings today will include Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour.
