Health Minister issues decision for medicines import

The Public Health Minister Hamad Hassan decided on Tuesday that the import of medicines registered in Lebanon should be subject to a certain mechanism which requires the import and export department at the ministry to sign all the bills related to incurable diseases medicines, anesthetics, infant formula and others.

Additionally, the import of other medicines will be subject to other conditions such as submitting a schedule, proforma invoice and other.

Hassan's decision also suspended the imports of medicines that have two generics produced locally and prioritized the import of generic medicines.

As for medicines that have arrived at the port before this decision, they should be signed before entering the market and importers should not distribute them unless they gain the approval of the Health Ministry.
