Aoun: We will block the appointment of any incompetent candidate

Change and Reform bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun said on Tuesday that his bloc has the most influential role in appointments, adding that “we will block the appointment of any incompetent candidate.

Aoun added, following his bloc weekly meeting in Rabiyeh, that “if the STL funding issue is not dealt with through the proper channels outlined in the constitution, neither PM Najib Mikati nor any other politician can pay a single cent towards the tribunal.”

“We are not willing to use funding in contravention of the constitution,” he added. On the developments in Syria, Aoun said that “calm is prevailing again over the region. The regime will not fall; Assad will carry out reform.”
