Minister Hajjar explains programs of Daem Social Safety Net

Minister of Social Affairs Hector Hajjar stressed on Monday during an interview with Al-Sahem Newspaper that “Daem Social Safety Net has two programs: Aman program and ration card program,” explaining that “the first one is known as Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN), which covers 150,000 families as well as 87,000 students from these families that study in public schools, and the second is a program with specific criteria for those who have become poor due to crises.”

“The whole process will be supervised, including evaluation that will be carried out through visits,” Hajjar pointed out, and continued by saying that “they will not visit all who will register, but only those who are found to be the poorest.”

He also explained that if 500,000 people register, the platform will be automatically linked to the Central Bank, so if a person has an account, they will know about it because bank secrecy will be lifted.

He underlined that "all donor countries say that we need reform, so we must start somewhere,” adding that he has a goal for Lebanese to become productive, as well as for them to take their wages and rights.
