Strategic Framework for the United Nations Action in Lebanon launched

Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in cooperation with the United Nations in Lebanon, sponsored the launch ceremony of the "Strategic Framework for the United Nations' Action in Lebanon for the Period 2022-2025.”

During the ceremony, Mikati called on the UN, the donor countries and local partners to invest in development, especially in the areas of health, education and social coverage, since “it is the first line of defense for community development,” stressing that “the government values the partnership between all members of Lebanese society, especially the public and private sectors.”

For her part, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon Najat Rochdi pointed out that there is a "structural defect in the economic model, which must be redesigned and restructured, taking into account the current economic context, the collapse of the exchange rate, the capital control, the lifting of subsidies, and inappropriate policies in terms of supporting infrastructure and the brain drain.
