Ghosn: Discussions failed, Wednesday's strike still on

Head of the General Workers Union Ghassan Ghosn announced that Wednesday’s strike is still on after failing to reach an agreement on the proposed wage formula.

“There were two conflicting point of views, namely on the wage scales; the Union wanted the increase to be cumulative in order to match the cumulative salary”, Ghosn said following his meeting with PM Najib Mikati at the Grand Serail.

“While discussions were positive initially, opinions failed to converge on an integrated formula”, Ghosn said adding that all suggested formulas are not applicable.
