Azzi to LBCI: Orthodox law not “biblical”

              
Vice president of the Kataeb party Sejaan Azzi stressed that the party remains steadfast on all of the agreements reached throughout the Bkerke meetings, adding that the Patriarch cardinal Bechara Rai accomplished a great achievement in regards to persuading a consensus from various Christian political factions related to the electoral law.            

On an interview with LBCI’s Nharkom Said on Wednesday, Azzi said that the latest meeting held by the four panel Christian quartet at Bkerke yielded positive results, stressing at it came as no surprise that the Lebanese Forces, Marada, Free Patriotic Movement and the Kataeb reached an agreement.             

He however added that the orthodox gathering proposal is not “biblical”, adding that if another alternative that provides 64 Christian MPs voted for by Christian citizens were provided , “then let them come forward with it.”             

The Orthodox Gathering law is being rejected under the pretext that it strikes the core of the Lebanese state, however “why is it that the state becomes threatened when it comes to Christian rights?” he asked.
