Mahfoud to LBC: I hold Ghosn responsible for controversy

The Head of the Union Coordination Committee Nehme Mahfoud told Nharkom Said TV show that the General Workers’ Union does not represent the working class and, therefore, cannot speak on behalf of workers.

“I hold the head of the General Labor Confederation responsible for the controversy that disrupted work in the educational sector”, Mahfoud said.

Mahfoud wondered whether the GLC achieved a real historic settlement, adding that “the Union Coordination Committee made a mistake by working alongside the union”.

Mahfoud stressed that the overnight negotiations were humiliating because “it will be impossible to set apart a worker whose salary increases from 1,750,000 LBP to 2,050,000 LBP and another worker whose 1,800,000 salary remains the same”.

Mahfoud added that the Union Coordination Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday at 12 p.m. to take an appropriate stance.
