Harb to LBCI: Proportional representation cannot be adopted in light of sectarian regime

MP Boutros Harb said Sunday that some leaders discussed the Orthodox Gathering’s proposed law as a political matter “which serves their interests at the expense of the interests of others.”

Harb told Nharkom Said that if the Orthodox Gathering’s law is adopted, the biggest loser would be Lebanon’s unity “since it violates the concept of coexistence and divides the state into statelets.”

Harb objected the adoption of an electoral law based on proportional representation at the time being, stressing the necessity of ratifying an electoral law which guarantees just representation for Christians.
