REPORT: UCC protests continue, demonstration to be held outside Labor Ministry on Friday

The Union Coordination Committee (UCC) continued its strike for the ninth consecutive day, holding a protest on Thursday outside the Finance Ministry’s Directorate of Revenues.

The demonstrators reiterated that their movements will continue until the cabinet refers the ranks and salaries series’ law to parliament, revealing that tomorrow’s demonstration will take place outside the Labor Ministry in Shayah at 9:30 am.

They headed then to the Real-Estate Affairs Department in Beirut’s Down Town, holding banners and urging officials to assume responsibilities and meet the UCC’s demands.

Earlier, the security forces blocked the road near the Directorate of Revenues to facilitate the arrival of the protesters.
The Union Coordinating Committee launched its open ended strike on February 19th 2013 after making repeated called on Prime Minister Mikati to validate the new salary scale and consequently refer it to Parliament for ratification.
