Sleiman, Mikati sign the electoral bodies' decree

President Michel Sleiman signed on Monday the decree calling on the electoral bodies to hold the upcoming parliamentary elections on the 9th of June.

Sleiman explained that this signature does not mean that elections will be held under the 60's electoral law as much as it means that he is aware of the obligations stipulated in the Constitution.

In this context, he reiterated his call to pass a new electoral law starting with the draft law approved by the government and referred to the Parliament.

Earlier in the day, PM Najib Mikati signed the decree to elect the new members of the Parliament and sent it to Baabda Palace.
