Syrian shells land in Lebanon despite warning

The Syrian army shelled on Wednesday afternoon the Joussiyeh region near the border with Syria, other reports said that shells fell on the disputed area of Wadi Ouweini in rural Arsal as a Grad missile crashed on the outskirts of Sahlat el-May area in Hermel.           

In a similar story, a Syrian jet fired 4 missiles on the bordering town of al-Qassira situated between the rural town of Arsal and the Syrian town of Flita.
                      
Earlier in the day, five shells from the Syrian side fell in the vicinity of the border town of al-Qasr, in Hermel due to the escalating clashes taking place in the Syrian territories, the state run National News Agency reported.                               

This comes after Lebanese President Michel Suleiman criticized on Tuesday a Syrian air strike on Lebanon's side of the border between the two countries, calling it an "unacceptable violation" of Lebanese sovereignty.                            

Syrian air force jets fired four rockets at a remote section of the border with Lebanon on Monday, security sources said, four days after Damascus warned it may strike at Syrian rebels taking refuge across the frontier.                        

The Syrian government, battling a two-year-old revolt against four decades of rule by the Assad family, has warned it may strike at Syrian rebels taking refuge across the frontier.                               

But many citizens fear their country is increasingly at risk of being dragged into the neighboring conflict, in which more than 70,000 people have been killed.
