Merkel praises Sleiman's role in maintaining stability

German Chancellor Angela Merkel telephoned on Friday President Michel Sleiman and praised his efforts in maintaining stability, hoping that the formation of the new government will be swift and efficient.

Merkel also expressed support for Lebanon's request to hold an international conference to tackle the file of the displaced Syrians in light of the long-simmering Syrian crisis.

On another note, President Sleiman met with Caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour in Baabda whereby he discussed the contacts and consultations being held to form the new government and the electoral law, alongside the efforts exerted by the Ministry to shelter the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

It is worth noting that Sleiman also met in Baabda with Caretaker Minister of Transportation and Public Works Ghazi al-Aridi as well as Future bloc MP Hadi Hobeich and MP Ziad al-Kadri.
